The Republic of Photography was founded in 2006 by award-winning portrait and advertising photographer Seamus Ryan, when he designed his first Boothnation photo booth. Created to flatter even the most discerning subject these 'beauty lit' photo booths and pop up shoots and pods—have become a mainstay at the Baftas, the Oliviers, the Bifas and countless other brand activations, award nights and glamorous parties.
Working with a host of global brands, the ROP design photo shoots and photo booths that really do engage, ensuring social sharing, positive association, and lots of fun. Our happy team includes photographers, designers, producers and programmers, and we work closely with set builders, stylists and model makers.
The ROP have also designed and manage permanent photo booths in uber cool Rough Trade stores throughout the UK and in New York. At the heart of what we do is a profound appreciation for the enduring power of a great photograph.

About Seamus
ROP director Seamus Ryan's photography reflects his strong passion for people and the portrait genre.
His advertising, editorial and theatre work, covers all aspects of modern portraiture. His lighting and people skills ensure a steady flow of celebrity portrait commissions as well as bold character work.
Seamus has worked on countless national and international campaigns over a twenty year career, from marketing titans such as Nike through to The National Theatre and Comic Relief.
He has been awarded by D&AD and the Association of Photographers and has work included in the National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection.
